Organic Chemistry (with CengageNOW 2-Semester Printed Access Card)

Mcmurry Organic Chemistry 7th edition Review

"McMurry?s greatest strength to this reviewer is the level of presentation, the emphasis on physical principles. I think the questions in McMurry both in text and end of chapter are excellent."

"The material has a far greater biological focus, which is done successfully. This is a big plus in my mind. . . . the chemistry is presented with a high degree of accuracy. There are certainly no major problems."

"The chapter problems are excellent and challenge students at many levels. Chapter summaries are well written. The ?Why This Chapter? lead-ins are superb."

"The author has always produced a well written book that is easy to read. That is a comment I have heard from both other colleagues and students alike. This has always been a general strength of the text. I was happy to see the inclusion of the ?Focus On? topics as supplements to the chapter?s material to excite the students about other topics in organic chemistry related to the chapter material. I think these are quite informative for the students."

"We have been using McMurry?s text for the past several years here at UA, and I am, therefore, quite familiar with it. The general strengths include the readability and a wealth of good problems."

chemistry the molecular nature of matter and change

Chemistry: The Molecular Nature of Matter and Change 5 edition

A good general chemistry text for science majors

This is a good chemistry text for a computer science student who studies independently. I like this book for several reasons: (1) is large, (2) Contains detailed explanatins why things happen, and AS, (3) The book contains numerous problems developed, and (4) The book is easy to read so in simple language and excellent graphic explanations foward. I study chemistry now, and I turn to this text very often for the explanation of certain topics, for example. Security problems. Coverage of organic chemistry is very simple book Silberberg. For more information see Organic Chemistry: Structure and Reactivity Seyhan Ege (ISBN 0395902231), an excellent book that emphasizes understanding, not memorization. A note: the solutions to all problems in Ege's book will guide the study.

Chemistry: An Introduction to General, Organic, Biological Chemistry (10th Edition)

By Karen C. Timberlake

Timberlake Chemistry 10th Edition Reviews
My comments relate in fact the ninth edition of this excellent text. I have this problem with my daughter during her senior year of high school at home. The writing is very good, the numbers are nice, and I know a lot of problems at the end of each chapter fully cover all topics and answers to help you really weird problems, confidence (and resizing easy). Professor Karen Timberlake include e-mail and provide a timely, courteous and polite. This book was the best preparation for freshman and organic chemistry (classes for seniors) at the University. Zumdahl Chemistry 7th Edition Reviews
Actually, no idea what I'm talking about the others, because my experience with the book was the opposite. I think this is one of the best books on the chemistry that I had the pleasure to use. AP Chem, the first textbook used in class was very complicated and confusing, and nearly as many diagrams. At halftime, we started using this text and it is now much easier and clearer, especially chemistry, acid-base balance. The book contains many examples of how weak / strong acid combinations of base / and as pH, etc. to calculate what happens when a strong base is added, and other things. Offers a simple plan to follow for all the works of the problems and how to think intuitively (eg, the interactions between ions in solution). Maybe the other sections are not so good? It 'very complete. The third years of study at university, I'm always on this book can be found before diving into my writing, chemistry, as a first update on the bases. If this is a kind of dry reading, (I have not seen him), I prefer a clear and concise text, tells me exactly how you think through problems, a new type of chemistry.
